Teen Suicide: The Silent Emergency We Can’t Ignore

Teen Suicide: The Silent Emergency We Can’t Ignore

I just completed a certification on Teen Suicide: Assessment, Diagnosis, Prevention, and Treatment, and what I’ve learned left me shaken — and more committed than ever to my mission.

🔴 Teen suicide rates have increased 53% between 2010 and 2020
🔴 1 in 5 high school students has seriously considered suicide
🔴 1 in 10 has attempted it in the past two months
🔴 Over 3,000 high school students attempt suicide every single day in the U.S. alone

💔 Behind these numbers are real kids. Kids who smile at school and struggle in silence.
And sadly, we know some of the most common triggers:

  • Cyberbullying and peer cruelty

  • Social media comparison and pressure to perform

  • Feeling disconnected, unseen, or unworthy

  • Overexposure to tech, and underexposure to real connection, purpose, and tools for self-regulation

These facts reaffirm what I’ve always believed:

We can’t wait until our kids are in crisis to start helping. Prevention starts in childhood.

✨ We need to equip children with self-exploration tools, values, and emotional intelligence.
✨ We need to give them less distraction and more inner direction.
✨ We need programs that don’t just “entertain” — but transform.

That’s why I created The Unbeatables Academy and Camp Unbeatables
Not just as summer or afterschool activities, but as training grounds for life.

🧠 We focus on building identity, character, and resilience.
💛 We help kids feel seen, valued, and capable of facing life’s ups and downs.
📚 We use breaks from school as a bridge toward lifelong strength.

To my fellow professionals and parents: Please don’t let screens raise your kids.
Don’t assume they’ll “figure it out.”
Let’s lead with connection — before we’re forced into correction.
